MeiaMeia is Arcomusical’s first album, releases on October 28, 2016 on Innova Recordings.

MeiaMeia presents twelve original compositions from Gregory Beyer and Alexis C. Lamb that offer an incredibly colorful portrait of the berimbau musical bow.

The traditional Afro-Brazilian berimbau is a disarmingly simple instrument: a single steel string, a wooden bow, a resonating gourd. Thanks to custom tunable instruments expertly hand-crafted by David “Snappy” White, Arcomusical is able to create a unique soundscape for the berimbau filled with harmony and melody and deeply hocketed rhythm.

On MeiaMeia, the berimbau is literally reinvented. Arcomusical takes the berimbau to new heights of collaboration, interplay and communication.

The album is dedicated to Naná Vasconcelos (1944-2016), whose pioneering work with the berimbau was the original inspiration for everything for which Arcomusical stands.

MeiaMeia (Portuguese for “HalfHalf”) is Arcomusical's first album, released on October 28, 2016 on Innova Recordings. It presents a chamber music cycle for the Afro-Brazilian berimbau, co-composed by Gregory Beyer and Alexis C. Lamb. The music was composed during a period of three years of research and the development of a compositional approach to the berimbau emphasizing its melodic and harmonic potential.
